EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is part of a therapy suite known as ‘energy psychology’. This therapy has its roots in Chinese medicine, using acupressure points to support the healing process for physical, mental, and emotional issues.
How Does it Work?
Whilst there are many pressure points across the whole body, there are several core pressure points that are commonly used as a type of emotional and physical first aid. You can use EFT for almost anything, overcoming emotional baggage, pain, anxiety, addiction, phobias, and much more. Professionally coached EFT works by getting to the root cause, or working through the layers of ‘aspects’ that a client comes with, the coaching and tapping process then provides ‘emotional freedom’ from any issue, and hence healing.

For long standing or deep rooted issues, you may need multiple sessions and can save money with a course of 4 or 6 sessions, an initial consultation will be included in your first treatment.

What can I Expect at a Session?
Alison blends the session with coaching and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), to get to the root cause of the issue, and tapping on the pressure points, with a set up statement and affirmation statements, to help clients move on from the issue they came with. You can choose to have a 30 minute taster session with Alison, and that may resolve a simple issue, or a course of 6 treatments, which includes an initial consultation.
Self tapping and visualisation is recommended in-between sessions. The basic tapping sequence is easy to follow and can be done by yourself. Even self administered tapping can be effective for simple treatments that don’t have layers of associated, and often subconscious, issues. This is because the clever creator, Gary Craig, has crafted this technique from the more complicated TFT (thought field therapy).
I was amazed at how quickly the tapping worked, it felt a bit strange at first but now I use it whenever I need to, you can tap for anything.
In a 2013 study of Bodily Maps of Emotions, researchers concluded that emotional feelings are associated with discrete, yet partially overlapping, maps of bodily sensations. They worked with over 700 subjects in 5 different experiments related to 13 human emotions. This is demonstrated quite nicely in the fact that the emotion of stress creates 1400 psychological changes in the body (including hormonal and chemical). It’s well evidenced that mind affects body, and body affects mind, they work together. You may have heard the term, ‘died of a broken heart’, where someone’s loss of a loved one is so intense, so encompassing, that their body literally gives up. A person who feels emotions of self worthlessness, for example, may feel pain in their physical body.
